Old & New: vol I cover art
/

about

A metrical psalm I found in Our Old Hymn Book, used by Charles Spurgeon's church around the 1860s.

lyrics

Your promise, Lord, is perfect peace
And yet my trials still increase
Till fears sometimes my soul assail
And I believe the worst prevails

Then savior then I fly to thee
And in Your grace my refuge see
You heard me from Your holy hill
And You will hear and help me still

Beneath Your wings secure I sleep
What foe can harm me while You keep
I wake and find You at my side
My ever-present Guard and Guide

Oh why should earth or hell distress
With God so strong, so near to bless?
From Him alone salvation flows
On Him alone, my soul, repose

Arise, O God, save me
